theflyonthewall.com: Avery Dennison CEO says the company is "well positioned for growth"
Avery Dennison (AVY) CEO Dean Scarborough noted that the firm delivered a "solid performance in Q3 in the face of a weak market." Despite demand remaining soft in all segments, the company managed to increase its operating margin to 7.3% which they attribute to strict cost controls and employee productivity. It sees the emerging markets as the strongest driver of business with growth estimates in the mid single digits. The company expects lower sales volume in Q4 due to seasonal issues, along with a modest build up of raw material inflation. However, it would not provide EPS or revenue estimates. CEO Scarborough stated that he was "cautious, but not pessimistic about the recovery, and anticipates that a robust turn around in demand could be a couple of quarters away." Despite this, he maintains that, "the company is well-positioned for growth when the market improves." These comments were made on Avery Dennison's Q3 earnings conference call. :theflyonthewall.com
