The Department of Education has developed a new interpretation that could prevent students at colleges from receiving federal financial aid if their schools are not accredited by the state in which they are located, according to Inside higher Education. The department is not allowing colleges in Florida to bypass state licensing requirements by saying that they are accredited by a separate institution, the website indicated. The new interpretation will not be enforced for distance education, but could be applied in states other than Florida, the website added. Reference Link

Apollo Education Group announced the promotion of Gregory Iverson to serve as the company's CFO, effective October 26. Iverson succeeds Joseph D'Amico, who has served as interim CFO since May, and will report directly to Apollo Education CEO Gregory Cappelli. Iverson is currently VP of finance, Chief Accounting Officer and treasurer. He began his tenure at Apollo in April 2007 as VP and controller.
