AutoNation announced that its total retail new vehicle unit sales in January, as reported to the applicable automotive manufacturers, were 19,402, an increase of 22% as compared to last January. Same-store retail new vehicle unit sales in January were 18,891, an increase of 18% as compared to last January. Reports January Domestic up 26% to 6,159 units, Import up 18% to 9,388 units and Premium Luxury up 24% to 3,855 units.

12:59 EDTANAutonation stops selling cars with Takata airbags, Reuters reports
Autonation has stopped selling cars equipped with Takata airbags involved in a global recalling that involved more than 16M vehicles, reports Reuters. In an interview with Reuters, CEO Mike Jackson said, "We as a company have made the decision not to retail any vehicle that is involved in this recall until it is repaired and the vehicles that do come in for service, we are advising the customer not to put a passenger in front of that air bag until it's repaired."
