theflyonthewall.com: Bill Gates bought nearly $18M worth of AutoNation shares, Barron's reports
Last week, Bill Gates bought shares of auto retailer, AutoNation (AN), through two vehicles -- his investment firm Cascade Investment and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which directs their charity work throughout the world. Gates bought one million shares on Oct. 29 for $17.6M at an average price of $17.63 per share. Gates now owns about 23M shares of AutoNation, or about 13% of the company. In January, the last time Gates bought shares in the company, he paid only $9.97 per share. In fact, on Nov. 21, 2008, Gates paid just $6.44 per share to buy $3.4M worth of AutoNation shares, according to data from InsiderScore.com. The buys show Gates is unafraid to purchase AutoNation shares even as the shares have soared over the past year. The buys also mark a change in sentiment after insiders turned bearish back in late April. Reference Link :theflyonthewall.com
