| theflyonthewall.com: | Andersons retreats after Piper downgrades shares to Neutral | | The Andersons (ANDE), which provides agricultural products and services, is retreating after Piper Jaffray downgraded the stock to Neutral from Overweight. The firm believes that The Andersons is likely to miss consensus estimates in the first half of 2012, due to three fundamental headwinds. Specifically, Piper thinks that the company will be hurt by lower margins in its plant nutrient and ethanol production businesses. The Andersons' profit potential will also be negatively affected by a tight spread between cash prices and futures prices of grain, added the firm, which reduced its target on the stock to $45 from $55. In mid-morning trading, The Andersons fell $1.58, or 3.65%, to $41.74. :theflyonthewall.com |
