Health Net of California, a wholly owned subsidiary of Health Net, confirmed that it has been selected as a Covered California health plan in the Covered California individual health insurance exchange. The selection means Health Net health plans for individuals and their family members will be offered in many areas of the state when Covered California enrollment begins. Covered California is expected to begin enrolling beneficiaries on Oct. 1, 2013, and benefits are expected to become effective Jan. 1, 2014. Collectively, Health Net and Health Net Life bid to be Covered California health plans in 13 of Covered California’s 19 regions, and were accepted in all 13, the company said.

Health Net (HNT) and Molina Healthcare (MOH) were two of the health insurers selected to offer plans on the state's healthcare exchange, according to The LA Times. Amazon Publishing announced Kindle Worlds, the first commercial publishing platform that will enable any writer to create fan fiction based on a range of original stories and characters and earn royalties for doing so. Amazon Publishing has secured licenses from Warner Bros. Television Group’s Alloy Entertainment division for its series Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars, and Vampire Diaries and plans to announce more licenses soon, the company said. Through these licenses, Kindle Worlds will allow any writer to publish authorized stories inspired by these Worlds and make them available for readers to purchase in the Kindle Store. Amazon Publishing will pay royalties to both the rights holders of the Worlds and the author.
