News Breaks | | | | March 22, 2013 | | 07:48 EDT | | AMX, AMOV, TV | Telecoms bill approved in Mexico's lower house, FT says Mexico’s lower house of Congress overwhelmingly approved a telecoms bill that is likely to be a first step towards introducing more competition into the nation's telecoms and television industry and curbing the power of some of the country’s most powerful businessmen, according to Financial Times. The two companies most likely to be affected are America Movil (AMX, AMOV), controlled by the world’s richest man Carlos Slim, and Grupo Televisa (TV), the Mexican broadcaster controlled by billionaire Emilio Azcarraga, the report noted, citing analysts.
