CME Group (CME) has held preliminary talks with BGC Partners (BGCP) about buying trading-software units Trayport and Fenics from GFI Group (GFIG), reported Bloomberg, citing people with knowledge of the matter. The assets may be valued at more than $600M, the report noted. GFI Group shares move into positive ground and are now up 0.5% in afternoon trading following the Bloomberg report. Reference Link

GAIN Capital announced that its common shareholders have overwhelmingly approved the acquisition of City Index Limited at a special meeting of shareholders held on March 12, 2015. The nearly universal shareholder support for the transaction was evidenced by a turnout of 93% of all outstanding shares attending the special meeting and over 99% of such shares voting in favor of the transaction. The approval of the transaction by GAIN's shareholders was one of the final conditions to the closing of the previously announced acquisition. Subject to the satisfaction or waiver of all closing conditions related to the acquisition, GAIN expects the transaction to close early in the second quarter 2015.
