News Breaks December 28, 2012 10:30 EDT AMRN Humana posts new policy coverage for Amarin's Vascepa Humana posted on its website a December 27, 2012 pharmacy policy coverage for Amarin's omega]3 fatty acid agent Vascepa. The insurer said Vascepa may be considered medically necessary when the following criteria are met: The member must be utilizing Vascepa for treatment of severe hypertriglyceridemia and the member must have documentation of previous treatment, intolerance, or contraindication to Lovaza and one of either Fibrate or Nicotinic acid. Humana added that Vascepa will be approved in plan year durations or as determined through clinical review.
