Looking to buy time to restructure, Alcatel-Lucent (ALU) may mortgage parts of its past and future, reports the Wall Street Journal. The telecom-equipment company is exploring offering its Internet-routing business as backing for as much as $1.31B in loans, and pledging the company's valuable portfolio of patents from Bell Labs, sources say.
