Horizon Air passenger service agents in Vancouver and Victoria, B.C., who are represented by the Canadian Auto Workers, have ratified a new three-year contract. All of the 44 agents at the two airports who participated in the ratification vote approved the contract, which expires on Feb. 14, 2016.

On a combined basis, Air Group reported a 6.9% increase in traffic on a 7.2% increase in capacity compared to June 2014. This resulted in a 0.2 point decrease in load factor to 86.7%. Alaska reported a 6.9% increase in traffic on a 7.4% increase in capacity compared to June 2014. This resulted in a 0.4 point decrease in load factor to 87%. Alaska also reported 87.5% of its flights arrived on time in June, compared to the 86.0 percent reported in June 2014. Horizon reported a 6.7% increase in June traffic on a 5.5% increase in capacity compared to June 2014. This resulted in a 0.9 point increase in load factor to 82.0%. Horizon also reported 86.6% of its flights arrived on time in June, compared to the 92.9% reported in June 2014.

Credit Suisse upgraded Alaska Air to Neutral and increased its price target to $78 from $75. The firm believes the worst is behind Alaska Air as competitive capacity adds in Seattle are declining. Credit Suisse expects the company to buyback up to 8% of its market cap in 2015 and said Alaska Air has the best balance between growth, cost controls, and shareholder returns while maintaining an investment grade balance sheet.
