Expansion in domestic and international intermodal markets will help to drive continued long-term profitable growth at CSX, the company's CFOFredrik Eliasson told analysts today at the 2013 Cowen and Company 6th Annual Global Transportation Conference in New York. "Our network serves nearly two-thirds of the nation's population and is well-positioned to capture a significant share of the domestic intermodal market opportunity, estimated at about 9 million total loads in the eastern United States," Eliasson said. "Investments in expanded capacity will help convert this long-run opportunity, building on about 30 percent growth in our intermodal business over the last three years."

As previously announced, Tom Horton will serve as Chairman of the Board of the new American Airlines. Doug Parker will serve as CEO and a member of the board. American Airlines and US Airways also noted that Dan Garton will step down as President and Chief Executive Officer of American Eagle Airlines later this year. A successor will be named prior to Garton's departure.

Alaska Airlines and the Air Line Pilots Association, International announced they have reached tentative agreement on a new five-year contract for the carrier's 1,480 pilots. The proposed contract includes pay raises, and quality of life and productivity improvements. ALPA's leadership is unanimously recommending that Alaska pilots ratify the tentative agreement, and a vote is expected to be completed in mid-July. The current contract was ratified in May 2009 and became amendable on April 1. Negotiators for ALPA and Alaska Airlines have been working on a new contract since last summer.

Allegiant Travel reported preliminary passenger traffic results for May. The company reported total system passengers rose 8.7% against the prior year period. Traffic rose 18%, capacity rose 16.9%, and load factor rose 0.9%. Total system departures fell 1.7%, and average stage length rose 9.7%.
