AerCap (AER) announced the completion of 29 aircraft transactions during 1Q14. The company said it signed lease agreements for 15 aircraft. The average term of lease agreements contracted during the past twelve months was 163 months for new aircraft and 60 months for used aircraft. It also delivered seven aircraft under contracted lease agreements, including four Boeing (BA) 737-800s, one Boeing 747-400SF and two Airbus (EADSY) A320-200s. The company said it purchased three aircraft, including two new Boeing 737-800s and one Airbus A330-300. It also closed the sale of four aircraft. AerCap sold one Airbus A330-300 from its owned portfolio and one Boeing 737-400, one Boeing 737-300 and one Boeing 767-300ER from its managed portfolio. AerCap said it signed financing transactions for $2.8B. During Q1, AerCap entered into an agreement to replace ILFC's $2.3B unsecured revolving credit facility with a new $2.75B four-year unsecured revolving credit facility, to become effective upon the closing of the ILFC transaction.

Boeing announced the completion of the firm configuration milestone for the 777-9, the first member of the 777X family to be developed. The Boeing 777X team reached this significant design milestone after working closely with airline customers and key suppliers to optimize the configuration of the new airplane. The 777X family includes the 777-8 and the 777-9 - both designed to respond to market needs and customer preferences. The 777-8 and 777-9 provide significant range, payload and fuel burn advantages compared to the A350. The 777X program has received orders and commitments for 320 airplanes from six customers worldwide. Production is set to begin in 2017.

Boeing has signed an agreement with Saudia Aerospace Engineering Industries, or SAEI, and Alsalam Aircraft to create the Saudi Rotorcraft Support Center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The joint venture will have locations in Riyadh and Jeddah providing comprehensive, in-country maintenance repair and overhaul support for Saudi Arabia's diverse rotorcraft fleet. Through in-country cooperation, the companies are focused on expanding the Saudi workforce through creation of self-sustaining jobs, technical skills development for local workers and further involvement of the Saudi aerospace supply base. The joint venture will support the Kingdom's commercial and defense rotorcraft platforms, including the Boeing-built AH-64 Apache, CH-47 Chinook and AH-6i. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Formation of the joint venture is expected to occur in late 2015 or early 2016.
