08:22 EDTAER, BA, EADSYAerCap completes 29 aircraft transactions in Q1
AerCap (AER) announced the completion of 29 aircraft transactions during 1Q14. The company said it signed lease agreements for 15 aircraft. The average term of lease agreements contracted during the past twelve months was 163 months for new aircraft and 60 months for used aircraft. It also delivered seven aircraft under contracted lease agreements, including four Boeing (BA) 737-800s, one Boeing 747-400SF and two Airbus (EADSY) A320-200s. The company said it purchased three aircraft, including two new Boeing 737-800s and one Airbus A330-300. It also closed the sale of four aircraft. AerCap sold one Airbus A330-300 from its owned portfolio and one Boeing 737-400, one Boeing 737-300 and one Boeing 767-300ER from its managed portfolio. AerCap said it signed financing transactions for $2.8B. During Q1, AerCap entered into an agreement to replace ILFC's $2.3B unsecured revolving credit facility with a new $2.75B four-year unsecured revolving credit facility, to become effective upon the closing of the ILFC transaction.

American Airlines (AAL) has selected CFM International’s advanced LEAP-1A engine to power its new fleet of 100 Airbus (EADSY) A320neo family aircraft. CFM values the engine order at $2.6B U.S. at list price. The aircraft order was originally announced in July 2011 and American will begin taking delivery in 2017. American also has orders for LEAP-1B engines to power 100 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, which are also scheduled to be delivered beginning in 2017. American has been a CFM customer since 1996 and the airline’s fleet includes 375 Airbus A320 Family and Boeing 737 aircraft powered by CFM56 engines. CFM International is a 50/50 joint company between Safran and General Electric (GE).

Boeing (BA) and Sikorsky Aircraft, a subsidiary of United Technologies (UTX) have been selected to help develop the Joint Common Architecture, JCA, standard for the U.S. Army’s Joint Multi-Role, JMR, Science and Technology program, an element of the Future Vertical Lift, FVL, initiative. The Technology Investment Agreement was awarded by the U.S. Army Aviation Applied Technology Directorate on June 30.
