Apple's (AAPL) iPhone 5 addresses past issues with LTE, or Long Term Evolution, and is likely to be the inflection point for the technology, Barron's contends. Verizon should get an outsize share of iPhone 5 purchases, thanks to its leading LTE footprint. A joint venture, owned 55% by Verizon Communications (VZ) and 45% by Vodafone (VOD), Verizon Wireless has already covered 371 U.S. markets—and 75% of the U.S. population—with LTE service. AT&T (T) and Sprint (S) remain far behind with just 13.7M LTE connections, or 4% of the whole U.S. wireless base. Additionally, the LTE race is a clear win for cell-tower firms American Tower (AMT), Crown Castle International (CCI) and SBA Communications (SBAC). They operate and lease the tower space that provides cell networks' backbone. Every network upgrade means more equipment on these towers. The LTE opportunity spreads, providing opportunity for Cavium (CAVM), which makes chips for the networking equipment that hangs on cell towers, according to Thrivent Asset Management's David Rudow. He thinks its shares could reach $45 in a year. Rudow says that this will mean more business for Teradyne (TER), and that its shares could hit $22 in a year, 50% above Friday's close. Reference Link
