As such, Apple (AAPL), Royal Dutch Shell (RDSA), JPMorgan Chase (JPM), Novartis (NVS), General Dynamics (GD), Barnes & Noble (BKS), Western Digital (WDC), BlackRock (BLK), Viacom (VIA, VIAB), and Marathon Petroleum (MPC) were named favorite stocks for 2013, Barron's contends in its cover story.
