09:07 EDTAAPLMaxim starts Apple at Hold on non-China iPhone slowdown
Maxim analyst Nehal Chokshi initiated shares of Apple with a Hold rating and $144 price target. After surveying over 800 international consumers, Chokshi thinks iPhone demand in non-Greater China markets will likely be down 16% year-over-year in 2015. The analyst points out, however, that the survey suggests iPhone demand should continue at a 100% rate for 2015 relative to 2014, a data point he calls "significantly positive." Chokshi views Apple as a "very attractive long-term investment," but thinks mature market smartphone lifecycles will trump the strong share gains in China this year.
