American Airlines Group's total revenue passenger miles for the month were 17.3 billion, up 3.8% versus January 2013. Total capacity was 21.6 billion available seat miles, up 2.3% versus January 2013. Total passenger load factor was 80.3% for the month of January, up 1.2 points versus January 2013. Based on one month of actual data and two months of forecast, the company continues to expect Q1 consolidated PRASM to be up approximately 2%-4% versus 1Q13.

Due to the recent rise in crude oil prices, the company is currently forecasting its second quarter fuel price to be approximately 10c higher than its previous guidance. The company currently estimates that its second quarter fuel price will be $1.94 to $1.99 per gallon. As a result, the company now expects its second quarter pretax margin excluding special items to be between 17% and 19%.
